Parents wear so many hats, wouldn’t you agree with me? And not to mention all the ‘job titles’ we have that can’t be filled as a ‘real’ paying job. In my earlier post An Entrepreneur Within you’ve read about what my own list of characteristics for an entrepreneur is, and today I’d like to discuss my list of a: parent entrepreneur.

This is a little more detailed than before of phrase descriptions of parent entrepreneurs. Perhaps because I’m a detail person or the parent in me is coming forward, that feels there should be a longer explanation per thought. Ready for the list? Here we go:

Characteristics of parent entrepreneurs:

  1. Memories of childhood ideas of products or services
  2. Creating a financial nest for your children
  3. Openly or secretly wanting to be an entrepreneur
  4. Create other sources of income
  5. Give work to the busy person – you are this busy person
  6. Wanting a lifestyle that grows with a family
  7. Time freedom
  8. Enjoying products or services with your children
  9. The service we give our children
  10. More ideas from kid products
  11. Homeschooling by an entrepreneur parent
  12. Building a family of ‘preneurers.

Now don’t lose your mind when reading this list. Trust me, there will be explanations to follow in future posts about each numbered item.

But what becomes of a person who has the life theme of entrepreneur and then becomes a parent? What I can tell you is that we simply don’t stop being an entrepreneur at heart.

Even when parenthood seems to consume your thoughts and time, other thoughts of business still flow parallel. And the business platform is what we need to focus on to fulfill our list and life’s purpose.

For me when I became a mother, my career goals were put on hold. However, my parenthood experience was, and is, so much different than the average mom or dad reading my post. Far more complicated than you can only imagine, and a road that’s taken me eight years to get back to being the entrepreneur I was destined to be. You simply have an easier task of becoming a full time parent entrepreneur at this moment.

I want to help you stay off the brakes and go for the chance to be the entrepreneur you too, were destined to become.

Until next time,

Cassie
