Shortly after my birthday in January, news reports of the spread of coronavirus were becoming the subject of top stories.
February started out with a surprise late-night snowfall here in central Texas, which I gladly took advantage of losing a couple of hours of sleep over to enjoy.
Not only was this once-a-decade snowfall in Texas occurring, but people were also then slowly starting to stockpile toilet paper here in the United States once word began traveling that the virus was reaching other countries.
I recall watching a docuseries about preppers and thinking about how they always mentioned you have to be ready for when panic among the masses break out. Will you be ready with supplies for you and your family?
Going on my third year of creating and building my own home garden due to my change in perspective in regards to my health over divorce, I wasn’t feeling much panic. I know that I can grow crops in abundance, and I work from home too.
Since looking in the mirror at my changing body image during divorce and my custody battle to fight for my son, I’ve spent many hours and years, reflecting on life, and where humans are today when it comes to having survival skills to weather any storm.
So far, I haven’t felt any real panic or fear over our growing pandemic mode. Whether it’s from years of self-reflection, determination, and emotional growth, I’ve been able to handle this virus from a different angle. From a stronger angle.
I want to share my thoughts and feelings during this time so I may help provide a brighter way of looking at our quick-changing way of living.
I will be focusing on coming from a place of gratitude.
Stay safe, and remain the light.
Cassie
